September 12, 2024 - A new project in Brackenridge Park in San Antonio, TX has officially started. The nature-inspired playscape is set to replace a long-closed playground in the area. The project is one of many Hoerr Schaudt playscape projects that incorporate an extensive community engagement process, helping to guide the development of a playground and park space that best serves the community it's in.
One way the team is prioritizing the community? Through its littlest voices. During the recent community meeting, kids were asked to place green and red stickers on playscape examples to show what they did and didn't like, and draw their ideal play equipment.
There will be another public input meeting this fall. The public could see an initial design by the end of the year, with the playscape slated to open by October 2026.
