Rob has a broad range of experience spanning the fields of planning and landscape architecture, including streetscape design, campus and community planning, healthcare, public parks, botanical and zoological gardens, resorts and theme parks. With this breadth of expertise, Rob developed a strong commitment to exploring solutions that evoke the spirit of a place in each design. He draws inspiration from both site and program to create settings that immerse the user in an enriching and memorable environment.
As a strong advocate for sustainability in design, Rob has been involved in the development of numerous complex projects that thoughtfully integrate green infrastructure in the public realm. He approaches sustainability as a key aspect of the design with innovative solutions that place strong emphasis on both the visibility and performance of sustainable practices in the built environment.
Rob is a returning member of the Hoerr Schaudt family, having worked for Peter Lindsay Schaudt Landscape Architecture early in his career and later for the newly merged Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architecture from 2009-2012. He worked on several of the firm’s major projects during that time, including the Uptown Normal Redevelopment, Bradley University, Lincoln Park Zoo and the McGovern Centennial Gardens at Hermann Park. Rob holds a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s of Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University.
In his free time, Rob performs regularly as a classically trained bassoonist and is an avid gardener. He serves on the board of directors for the Kansas City Rose Society, stewards of the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden in Kansas City’s Jacob Loose Park. He and his husband, also named Rob, are proud parents to a Morkie named Robbie.
