Although Dave has a long list of past-life vocations, his favorite among the vintage-motorcycle-restoring, mountaineering, and scuba-instructing is his current role: designer of landscapes. Dave is consistently emboldened by the calming spirit of natural beauty, and is always seeking ways that he might influence a place so that others can regain their sense of peace. A Chicagoan for the past twenty years (and former Hoerr Schaudt employee), Dave is well-acquainted with the city, though he still carries an unremitting love for his hometown, Wooler, a small rural market town nestled in the hills near the Scottish borders of England. A scenic village enveloped by mountains and green, Dave’s affinity for the land began early, and he revisits the following Yeats poem every time he seeks the same kind of inspiration that he drew from his childhood environs: “The wrong of unshapely things, is a wrong too great to be told; I hunger to build them anew, and sit on a green knoll apart, With the earth and the sky and the water, re-made like a casket of gold.”
