Growing up in a farming family right near an Amish community, Emily learned the importance of “land” at an early age. She believes the way humans cultivate, occupy, and interact with the land can reveal a lot about our cultural identity. It’s this intuition paired with the love of creative thinking that led Emily to Landscape Architecture. In Emily’s opinion, Chicago is the perfect melting pot for designers, and it’s Chicago’s reputation as a design hub, a cultural nucleus, and a foodie’s dream, that drew her here, despite the harsh winters.
