Growing up in Beijing, Jingyi’s fascination with traditional Chinese gardens compelled her to visit several private gardens across Southern China from an early age. She also frequented the Summer Palace’s lakes and gardens, where she absorbed its stories dating back to 1750. During her undergraduate studies, a focus on botany and horticulture piqued her interest in how plant materials shape spaces and the relationship between design and ecology. As a designer, Jingyi is passionate about plant material’s seasonality and how its changes over time impact people’s interactions differently with a landscape.
As a new Chicago transplant, Jingyi is eager to explore the city’s culture, architecture, and urban public spaces. When she’s not trying out a new restaurant, Jingyi enjoys traveling and photographing landscapes.
