Keegan learned at a young age that good design lay in the details. His grandfather, one of the many architects and engineers in the family, taught him this early lesson, which informed his practice as a landscape architect, rooting his approach in meticulousness.
Keegan grew up in Western Illinois along the Mississippi River in a town called Moline, and later attended Iowa State University, where he received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. He lived all over the world – London, Rome, Christchurch – before settling in Chicago. His favorite place in his chosen city is Montrose Harbor, where he spends time sailing, sketching at the Bird Sanctuary, and fishing on the shoreline. Keegan also enjoys long distance cycling, reading science fiction novels, and spending his available weekends camping at state parks and national forests.
