Monica
first came to Hoerr Schaudt as an intern and returned the following year, after
graduation, as a project assistant with our Construction Administration team.
She is most interested in urban food systems, regenerative and resilient
landscapes, and the identification and development of queer space. Through
seminars and theory courses, she has developed a love for landscapes that can
withstand and even respond positively to shifting ecologies.
With
grad school behind her, Monica plans to get back into reading for fun to add to
her list of favorite books—one of her recent top reads is Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. She enjoys spending
time with her friends, family, and dog, Ivy, all while soaking up Chicago’s festivals
and all the city offers. Monica is also a fantastic baker and is currently learning
how to make bagels and fine tuning her recipe.
