Yichen grew up in the urban hub of Beijing, China, so from a young age, she understood the importance of well-planned outdoor spaces in enhancing the quality of urban life. Her first big adventure was moving to the United States on her own for high school, followed by her second big adventure of pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture. Guided by the challenge of blending natural elements into urban design to create spaces that feel both functional and inspiring, Yichen is passionate about creating spaces that not only look beautiful but also positively impact the environment and the people who use them.
Moving to Chicago is her most recent adventure. And while she has already fallen in love with Chicago’s beautiful skyline, she’s still getting used to the traffic and frequent sounds of sirens!
