Old Town homeowners never thought they could get everything they wanted on such small city lot. But luckily, they were proven wrong when Doug Hoerr walked onto the property and saw immense potential. The metal garage that had initially been an eye sore on the property became the center of Hoerr Schaudt’s redesign – by changing the flat roofline and fixing up the façade with wide double doors and a trellis, the garage would create an inviting second entry.
The rest of the yard was divided into separate use areas – dining, fire pit, lounging, play – the areas deliberately following a grid system that juxtaposes with the organic nature of the limited plant palette.
