Junior HR Generalist- Chicago

The Junior HR Generalist supports day-to-day human resources operations and assists with a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, employee records, and HR administration. The role reports to the Director of Human Resources. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job ads, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating hiring processes
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities to ensure a smooth employee experience
  • Support the update of employee records in HR systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures
  • Assist with benefits administration and HR documentation
  • Assist with the performance management processes, including performance review cycle coordination and documentation
  • Help organize training sessions, employee engagement activities, and HR initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and employment regulations under guidance from Director of HR.
  • Prepare reports and assist with HR data tracking as needed 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in HR
  • Basic knowledge of HR practices and employment laws
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily workload
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Internship or entry-level experience in HR or administration
  • Familiarity with Paylocity or other HRIS systems
  • Interest in developing a long-term career in Human Resources

Additional Information:  

  • Work Environment: Monday through Friday 8:30-5:30 with an hour for lunch/breaks.

  • Salary: Range is $60,000-75,000; the offer will be based on experience, skills and background in similar positions.
