Hoerr Schaudt has a long-standing commitment to linking education and practice. We believe the best way to prepare you for your future in landscape design and/or landscape construction/management is to expose you to a broad spectrum of office practices and procedures related to the profession. This is an active internship where your daily work will apply to current project work and deadlines.

You will have opportunities to work in design, construction administration/management, planting design and landscape maintenance.

Throughout the 8-weeks, you will receive hands-on training and guidance in many areas, including:

site visits + analysis
planting design
construction site observation
design development
design software
presentation shadowing
construction documents
design review
proposal development
client meetings
material specifications
schematic design
contractor meetings

And software applications, including Excel, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, BlueBeam, Rhino etc.

Hoerr Schaudt is a team of highly skilled, creative and dedicated landscape architects who create innovative landscapes that delight on every scale - from intimate private gardens to vast public parks. Our devotion to craft and attention to detail help clients discover the unseen potential of their outdoor spaces.

We regularly collaborate with top architecture firms on urban public spaces, institutional campuses, private residences, commercial developments, and recreational destinations. We complement a solid foundation in design with innovative horticulture and particular attention to seasonality. Our team is comprised of 90+ professionals with expertise in landscape architecture, construction administration, construction management, horticulture, and sustainability.

Our work is recognized frequently through press coverage, award recognition, requests for our designers to share their knowledge, and—most importantly—by the people who use and are inspired by the spaces we have created.

Interns are paid $22 per hour, with no benefits or paid time off. You will be responsible for finding, securing, and funding your own lodging. Hoerr Schaudt will provide a commuter stipend to/from the office or a parking pass.

Selection Process: Candidate reviews start after the application deadline of March 9, 2026.

It takes 2-weeks to process the applications and review each portfolio. Those selected to continue the process will receive an email to schedule a phone interview with HR. A second interview will allow you to meet with Hoerr Schaudt team members. Final offers to those selected candidates will happen prior to and no later than April 10.
