Planting Design Specialist

Description

We’re looking for an individual who is passionate about horticulture and planting design to join our team. As a planting design specialist, you will work in a collaborative studio environment in support of our Senior Planting design specialists and other team members. This role will require site and plant research, translating schematic planting plans to construction documents using LandFx, compiling representative styling imagery for presentations and assisting with plant material sourcing.

A successful candidate will be very organized and ready to contribute and learn within a team structure. They should be creative, inspired by innovative design and passionate about the ecological, visual and emotional impact plants can have on their surroundings. Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited university OR a degree in horticulture OR experience working for a botanic institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting planting design development or independently creating planting designs.
  • Research and increasing knowledge base of plant performance across a wide range of plant hardiness zones to accommodate the needs of our project footprint
  • Has a basic understanding of plant material forms and use in a landscape

Skills and Requirements

  • Computer software and hand graphic abilities to represent planting design concepts
  • Organize and assist with on-site plant layouts
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and a commitment to task oriented follow through.
  • Energetic attitude and ability to work well within a team across multiple offices
  • Thoughtful writing and verbal communication skills, particularly with internal team members and clients
  • Travel required as part of the role
  • Licensed landscape architect (preferred, but not required)
