Looking back, what most surprised you about the day-to-day work and culture at Hoerr Schaudt across different teams?
Jesssica: Each team has such a unique structure and day-to-day experience. One of the biggest surprises for me was the involvement in procurement and plant layouts throughout all of the Fieldworks teams. I was able to work with these teams throughout the spring and summer, so there was a lot of time spent getting hands-on experience with plant material and seeing layouts happen in real time.

Was there a particular team member or mentor who had a significant impact on your experience? In what ways did they inspire or influence you?
Jesssica: I have felt inspired by every single person I have worked with at Hoerr Schaudt. Everybody here comes from such different backgrounds and brings unique skills and perspectives to every situation. I didn’t go a single day without learning something new, and it was so inspiring to see people sharing their knowledge with everybody around them.
What insight or advice would you offer to future co-op interns as they prepare for a year with Hoerr Schaudt?
Jesssica: Dig in as much as you can and don’t be afraid to ask questions! This is such a unique place to work and being curious about everything will allow you to learn so much more than you thought was possible.
Can you share a standout moment from your work here, one that either made a lasting impression on your professional journey or a meaningful personal connection?
Jesssica: One of my favorite parts about my experience was the opportunity to build connections within the industry and spend time with my colleagues outside of the office environment through site visits, workshops, and office/industry events (and intramural kickball!). These connections have such a big impact on both personal and professional growth, and I hope to maintain these connections in the future!
