August 24, 2022 - Hoerr Schaudt has hired John Hreno as Associate Principal to join its Los Angeles office. While the firm has established a presence working on the landscape architecture for many West Coast residences, John will focus on commercial and residential business development efforts to expand the firm’s Southern California presence even further, in addition to his project management and design work.

“We have experienced steady growth on the West Coast and the time has come for us to make the leap and expand our market reach in this region,” says Principal Nick Fobes. “John’s experience and relationships will be instrumental in growing our portfolio in Southern California while continuing to demonstrate Hoerr Schaudt’s high-quality and horticulture-focused landscape architecture services.”

John has over 25 years of experience working on many project types, including parks, hospitality, education, new communities, cultural institutions, residences, streetscapes, biotech campuses, and mixed-use developments. His clients have included prominent corporations, public agencies, developers, and prominent figures in culture and finance. A few projects he has been involved with include The Getty Villa in Malibu, Knott’s Berry Farm in Costa Mesa, Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, Innovations Academy in San Diego, and a massive TOD mixed-use transportation hub in China. With a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California, John has spent the majority of his career working with landscape architecture, urban design, and architecture firms.

With a storyteller’s approach, he is known for creating multi-sensory experiences, structures, master plans, objects, and infrastructure where users live, work, and play. He is well-versed in collaborating with and leading teams in design, project management, and studio coordination. While his experience spans the world, he has the most substantial focus on Southern California, where he is dedicated to making the physical world around us better for everyone.

At Hoerr Schaudt, we design beautiful, purposeful gardens that connect people, site, and season. Gardens elicit joy, soothe our souls, and become places where we interact with each other and the world around us. Drawing upon centuries of time-honored tradition, our work layers botanical silhouettes to shape space and create settings that artfully blend the natural and built environments, be it a residence, streetscape, campus, city park, or botanical garden.
