November 18, 2025 - Hoerr Schaudt recently had the honor of contributing to an insightful panel presented by Luxury Pools + Outdoor Living and Ocean Home magazines, exploring the evolution of outdoor spaces into true year-round living environments. The on-demand session brought together leaders in outdoor architecture, pool engineering, and landscape design to discuss the next generation of design strategies.

Partner Nick Fobes, PLA, represented Hoerr Schaudt and shared our firm’s commitment to a Horticentric Design philosophy. As Nick explained, this approach places plants at the center of spatial decision-making, using horticulture for much more than decorative effect. “We position plants as essential architectural elements,” Fobes noted, underscoring their vital role in shaping experience, comfort, and microclimate.

He also emphasized our “choose green over gray” mindset, which favors layered planting beds and natural materials over excessive hardscape. This not only softens and enlivens outdoor spaces but promotes environmental responsibility—reducing stormwater runoff, creating shade and privacy, and supporting native ecosystems.
