Education
Master of Social Work, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany
Anett earned her Master of Social Work from Technische Universität Dresden in Germany, building a strong foundation in understanding the complexities of human relationships and social systems. Growing up in the German Democratic Republic, a country that no longer exists, shaped her perspective on adaptability, community, and the interplay of history and identity.
For the past eight years, Anett has worked in the field of language learning, with roles in program coordination and business administration specializing in world languages. She approaches her work as a dynamic and iterative process, viewing space—whether physical or conceptual—as a network of relationships, needs, boundaries, and possibilities. This big-picture mindset allows her to uncover details that drive impactful, people-focused solutions.
Beyond her professional work, Anett is a maker at heart. About a decade ago, she discovered rag rug twining and became dedicated to repurposing waste textiles into functional, beautiful art. She sources discarded materials from friends, family, and neighbors and has completed projects as ambitious as two 8x6 rugs crafted entirely from unusable socks collected in Chicago’s 60625 zip code. This hands-on creativity reflects her belief in sustainability and her appreciation for the stories woven into the fabric of everyday life.
