Catherine Xie
Designer I

After completing a summer internship at our Kansas City office in 2024, we're thrilled to welcome Catherine back to our firm as a Designer I in our Chicago office! Catherine grew up between two vibrant cities in China—spending half her childhood in Changsha in the south and the other half in Beijing. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Ecology from Peking University before pursuing her Master of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. Catherine is passionate about integrating her knowledge of ecological principles and cultural storytelling into her landscape design work. 

With experience managing a community garden during her undergraduate years and volunteering at numerous public gardens in Philadelphia throughout her master's program, she looks forward to continuing her love of plant care, gardening, and hiking in her spare time.
