A member of the Planting Design Studio and lifelong gardener, Christian sees planting design as a great privilege and opportunity to collaborate with other living things; to learn from plants and work with them to create ecologically rich and spatially compelling landscapes. Christian is a graduate of Ohio State’s Knowlton School, a National Olmsted Scholar Finalist, and the recipient of several research and travel awards from the Garden Club of America. Prior to joining the Hoerr Schaudt team, Christian interned at the Schau- und Sichtungsgarten Hermannshof in Weinheim, Germany and was the staff planting designer for Ruderal, an experimental design practice in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia. In addition to his work with PDS, Christian is the 2024-25 Midwest Landscape Lab Research Fellow at Ohio State, where he is teaching and conducting research on Michigan roadside plant communities and their futures in a changing world.
