Gina grew up in the Chicago suburbs before moving to Urbana, where she earned a BS in Horticulture and an MLA from the University of Illinois. During that time, she worked as an environmental educator and discovered how much she enjoyed sharing knowledge about plants and ecosystems. She later spent 18 years in the design-build industry on Chicago’s North Shore, contributing as a designer, estimator, project manager, buyer, and client liaison. Her passion for planting design grew from her love of drawing, biology, and ecology, and she is especially inspired by landscapes that evolve into biodiverse and dynamic environments.
Now based in Chicago, Gina is excited to bring her planting expertise to the city she has long loved and explored since childhood. One of her favorite career memories is seeing children enthusiastically grow vegetables in a garden she helped design at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Outside of work, she enjoys trail biking, camping, hiking, and kayaking, and she volunteers as a guide with Out Our Front Door. She also loves listening to Song Exploder, was once a nationally ranked Olympic weightlifter, and dreams of biking across New Zealand.
