Jakob brings a deep curiosity for environmental systems, planting design, and landscape construction to his work at Hoerr Schaudt. Raised in Bartlett, Illinois, he attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. While studying sustainable horticulture production, he conducted extension research across Tennessee and developed a passion for landscape architecture through coursework in sustainable landscape design.
Jakob also gained hands-on experience with a local landscape contractor, eventually leading a crew, and contributed to several design-build projects at the University of Tennessee Arboretum. Though he developed a lasting appreciation for East Tennessee’s landscape, Chicago has always been home. He is passionate about creating landscapes that are beautiful, resilient, ecologically abundant, and meaningful for the people who experience them.
