James Elsman
Associate Principal

Originally from Michigan, James brings a deep connection to the Great Lakes and a broad perspective shaped by decades in both landscape architecture and real estate development. His career spans hands-on design work as well as leadership roles delivering large-scale residential projects across Chicago, Denver, and St. Louis.

With experience across design, development, and construction, James has a holistic understanding of how projects come together from concept through completion. He is especially passionate about the intersection of natural systems and the built environment, creating outdoor spaces that connect people to the natural world.

Outside of work, James enjoys running, hiking, sailing, and traveling with his family, often seeking out new landscapes to explore.
