Katherine Townsend
Intern

Katherine's journey to landscape architecture began in the worlds of branding, experiential design, and planning, where she spent several years helping shape memorable places and experiences. One of her favorite projects involved working alongside artists and illustrators to bring The Rabbit Hole, a museum dedicated to children's literature, to life. After working in Minneapolis, Austin, and Kansas City, Katherine was inspired by the way each city's public spaces and bike networks shaped everyday life, ultimately leading her to pursue a Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Virginia. She joins Hoerr Schaudt's Kansas City office as an Intern, bringing both a design and strategic planning perspective to her work.

Driven by curiosity and collaboration, Katherine enjoys creating landscapes that strengthen the relationship between communities and the places they share. When she's not in the office, you'll often find her gardening, cycling with local groups, or relaxing with friends at Loose Park. She's an avid reader, a fan of This American Life, and is always planning her next adventure—especially if it involves great parks, good food, and exploring a new city.
